
Cardiovascular Diseases and Diabetes Mellitus
CVHDH provides risk factor screening, testing, and referral services. Individual or group education is available to patients or family members in an effort to decrease risk factors or prevent/control the disease process. Diabetes support groups are available in most counties.
These programs
include participation in community assessments and community health planning
efforts. Grant monies provide for educational programs in the community and
schools to reduce health risks associated with certain lifestyle behaviors.
Hands is an
intensive home visitation program assisting the first time parent during
pregnancy and through critical developmental stages in the child’s first two
years of life.
Early
Intervention First Steps is a joint project with Cumberland River Comprehensive
Care Center which identifies, tracks, and provides therapeutic intervention to
infants and toddlers (birth – three years) who are at risk for developmental
delay.
HIV/AIDS Education
CVDHD offers
training and education to schools and the entire community in an effort to
increase public awareness of the disease. This education stresses prevention
efforts and discusses modes of transmission.
This program
assists HIV positive persons in managing health and living needs. For referrals

Tobacco Prevention and Control
The mission of this program is to prevent and reduce disease and death due to tobacco use through various activities and educational efforts in our schools and communities.
CVDHD offers
emergency care with Basic and Advanced Life Support available 24 hours a day 7
days a week.
Our Health Departments maintain birth and death records. To receive a copy of these records, ask for the proper forms that may be filled out and sent to Frankfort for a copy of birth or death certificates.
